About the Recipe

Ham and cheese apple wraps are a delicious combination of savory and sweet that you can pack in the lunchbox or serve for a high-protein snack!

I’ve made grilled ham & cheese sandwiches for years, but these apple wraps are a low-carb version that’s light and satisfying with crunchy, tangy-sweet flavors.

These apple wraps can be prepared the night before and packed into lunch containers along with a boiled egg for additional protein, whole-grain crackers, veggies, and hummus for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 green apple, peeled and sliced

  • 3 ounces deli ham (about 3-4 thin slices)

  • 2 ounces cheese, thinly sliced

Instructions

Assemble the wraps:

  • On a cutting board, place a slice of ham and slice it in half lengthwise.

  • Place an apple slice on top of the ham, on one end, and a thin slice of cheese on top of the apple slice.

  • Beginning by the apple end, roll the apple and cheese slices onto themselves to wrap them with the ham.

For a packed lunch:

  • Place each ham and cheese wrapped apple slice inside a bento box or lunch container. In a separate compartment, add fruit, veggies, crackers, or the sides of your choice.

Notes

To keep the apples from browning, brush the slices with lemon juice after coring and slicing.
